Travel Schooling

Travel Schooling – I can teach Reese about the Great Wall of China, or I can show her. That was my thinking when I decided to homeschool earlier this year and it’s a journey I’m excited to take. If you’ve ever considered homeschool but are not sure how it works, follow along on our journey and see just how we’re doing it!

DIY Pumpkin Spice PlayDough

Staying inside can be all kinds of fun too, especially if you feel like getting your hands dirty, and trying out a fun fall project like this pumpkin spice play dough.

There are two things I love, besides mom, dad, and baking and that’s fall and playdough. I love it when the weather gets a little cold, giving me the perfect excuse to drink some hot cocoa. The sound of crunchy leaves under my boots makes playtime a hundred times more fun. But when the weather is really, really bad, you have to have a plan B! Enter homemade pumpkin spice play dough! pumpkin spice PlayDough

Pumpkin and playdough combined is like the best thing since peanut butter and jelly. I love getting creative, mixing different materials and coming up with odd crafts, and projects. I looove putting on my fav TV show, parking my butt in the living room, while testing some new ideas and crafts. I love cooking, of course, but I don’t always want to eat my creations! pumpkin spice PlayDough

And fall is the perfect time of the year to get in the lab, (which most people call “the kitchen”) and start making a royal mess! This super fun and colorful pumpkin playdough smells delish and took me about a minute to make, so it’s a super easy project too. Best of all, you and your BFFs can get together to play with it and create fun shapes, like animals, faces, houses, and cars, or anything you imagine. pumpkin spice PlayDough

Let me show you how it’s done:

Pumpkin Spice Playdough Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of flour, divided
  • 1/2 cup of salt
  • 1 tbsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 tbsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • Red & yellow food coloring

Directions:

Add 1 cup of flour, salt, cream of tartar, oil, pumpkin pie spice, and cinnamon to a large pot. Add 15 drops of red food coloring and 8 or 9 drops of yellow to the 1 cup of water. Add the colored water to the pot. Turn heat to medium-low and stir well to combine. Once combined, stir in additional 1/2 cup of flour. In just a few minutes a dough will form. Mix well, and be careful not to cook too long and burn the dough. Dump the dough onto a cutting mat or plate. Flour your hands and toss a small handful of flour over the playdough. Knead the dough and work the extra flour through until it is the right consistency and no longer sticky. Your dough is ready! pumpkin spice PlayDough
